The
listed track owners and operators realize
that with the current economy, karters need
consistency in classes and engines used in
Florida. An agreement has been reached
between the listed tracks to work together
in a unified direction. All tracks will be
assisting one another to develop karting in
Florida. Additional meetings of track
owners and operators will continue to
further move toward unifying the state under
one set of rules. The tracks currently
involved in this program are: Dirt Devils
Speedway and Fruitland Speedway Park.
The tracks agree that the
2011 season will be a rebuilding year for
the State of Florida. Tracks owners will
meet throughout the 2011 season to make
adjustments to their programs for the
betterment of the karters.
Each track has scheduled 3
“Promotional” events for the 2011 season.
These promotional races will be at the end
of regularly scheduled local events and will
not conflict with any local class. Four
classes have been agreed upon and will use
the same rules and weights at all tracks.
Karters can race one or all events at the
different tracks to improve their karting
skills and knowledge. This is being offered
as a fun universal program. Karters not
involved in a local series can also
participate in this program.
Guaranteed purses are
generated by a $20 entry fee and though
outside sponsorships. Additional sponsors
are always welcomed and encouraged. Payouts
are the same for the first 3 classes with
100% payback and a minimum guaranteed
purse. The 4th class, Box Stock, will start
at $150 guaranteed purse to the winner and
also have 100% payback.
Since the posting of our
press release, Vega has stepped up to
guarantee purses at all events. For the
2011 season, all the tracks have agreed to
change the Box Stock local classes from the
EL tire to the Vega Yellow MBS tire. In
addition, all Champ Kart classes will be on
Vega tires in 2011.
The tracks involved in this
program have taken a huge step toward
working together to make Florida karting
better, more affordable, and moving toward a
unified set of rules.
